Committee Meeting Highlights October

Friday, 20 October 2023 by Elizabeth Greensides

Minutes from this week’s meeting have been published as usual. However here are the highlights:

The Duplimator is broken and will be sent away for a service and repair which will mean that while it is away players at our sessions will need to deal the first hands of the session (in the old-fashioned way!) and analysis of the hands will not be possible until it returns. This is likely to be a minimum of two weeks.

The Christmas Party has been booked for Monday 4th December with tickets going on sale from David at the beginning of November. There will be a limit of 44 places at £15 per ticket. We are again charging below cost in the hope that members will donate raffle prizes for us to raise funds. Donated prizes welcome from the beginning of November too!

Hazel has whirled into action with her new responsibilities for the premises and with our handyman back from his holiday we have fixed coat hooks, kitchen lights and a broken chair as well as tackling both the front and back gardens before the winter. I have received a quote for fixing the flashing on the front roof and cleaning the gutters which will be actioned soon.

During November we will designate a week for supporting a charity where members can contribute alongside their table money at each session. Katie will coordinate with Alan Stevenson.

After the success of the Wimpenny Trophy another competition will be organised for early 2024.
